Vocations

Welcome to the Vocation Page for Subiaco Abbey.
Perhaps you are wondering and praying about your vocation. That's a good sign--a vocation is a gift from God that comes wrapped with the instruction "handle with prayer."
You may be wondering, "What is a monk, anyway?" or, "Who can become a monk, and how?" Or, "What do monks do?"

These questions can be answered by the pages linked to the buttons to the left.

Br. Francis Kirchner, OSB,
Vocation Director
There is a map that will situate Subiaco in its environs. Located in the Arkansas River Valley. Subiaco is easily accessible from Fort Smith or Little Rock, Arkansas. Subiaco Abbey is a vital part of the Church and the world, yet somehow away from "the maddening crowd."

More can be discovered about Subiaco Abbey from the pictures found on the link to our gallery page. Besides the abbey, you can see our guest and retreat house and the buildings that comprise our secondary school for boys, Subiaco Academy. The academy has been serving young men for over 118 years and is still going strong. In the photos are also barns, a carpenter shop, an artist studio, laundry, greenhouse, the headmaster's residence, and acres of woods, ponds, and pasture.
